The Community Actively Seeking Transparency (C.A.S.T.)

host important community forums on ways to improve accountability and transparency in policing and our government. To achieve change we must be steadfast and determined to lay a strong foundation. Laying a strong foundation takes time, a team, and we cannot do it without community. The issue of accountability and transparency are of great importance to not only families and individuals in Anne Arundel County (AAC), but also in the surrounding counties.

As always, please let us clarify that anything we do is not intended to negate the work of our outstanding, police officers that serve every day, and that we are extremely proud of. Our concerns are about the officers and others that do not serve our communities in the “manner of effective policing.”

C.A.S.T. believes that one of the best ways to bring greater accountability, transparency, equal access, and in some cases closure is through a Civilian Review Board (CRB) empowered to independently review complaints, make independent recommendations, and see the police department take appropriate action. In AAC C.A.S.T. hopes to build the momentum needed to bring that to fruition. Therefore it is important for us to lay the foundation so that we can have those critical conversations, that will lead us to greater reforms in our local criminal justice system.

C.A.S.T believes your views and active approach to this issue, among other concerns, will benefit the AAC community. So if you are available, please join us on the second Monday of the month.
