For Kathy's Sake, Inc. - Advocating for Katherine Morris Military Spouse Protection Act
The family of Katherine Morris has alleged that the Anne Arundel County Police Department mishandled this entire investigation.

They filed Freedom of Information request but now feel they are being stonewalled because of lacking the ability to pay for it!!!!!  Keep reading - perhaps you can help!!!
In 2015 the Morris family filed the following Freedom of Information (FOI) request, Click here to see inquiry

Below are links to the responses

In their request they were denied many things.  For the available items the Anne Arundel County Police have decided to charge the mother of the deceased from $5,300 to $7,000 for the 2,353 internal emails they say mention the deceased Katherine Morris and/or herself since 2012.

Wouldn't these emails confirm to the public that they have done right by this family and others like her?

They also cite that the county employee that will review the files receives $45.67 per hour to do so.

In a recent news article they seem to imply that the mother herself may have contributed to the large number of emails.    So for clarification purposes, family records reflect less than 45 emails were initiated by the mother.

In an good faith effort Ms. Morris sent the AACPD $1,000 asking that they start to release the internal communications starting back to May 6, 2012 with the promise to send additional payments.

NAACP President, Stephen Tillet, inquired and was initially told by the current Chief of Police that the request was reasonable and he saw no reason why the information could not start to be released.  The Chief of Police, later retracted this offer after talking with county attorneys.

The AACPD wants the mother to refine her request.  How do you do that without knowing what's there?  So in essence there is government transparency but only if you can afford to pay for it!

If you would like to help the family get to truth and transparency - then don't send us a donation.   Contact the AACPD and personally offer to pay the balance due for the release of those emails.

The phone number to AACPD is 410-222-8050 or contact Christine Ryder whose number is listed on their letterhead.  Somebody reading this can make this happen.  Do so for our Kathy's Sake.  Help us get to the FULL DISCLOSURE PROMISED REGARDLESS OF ONE'S ABILITY TO PAY FOR IT.
